Nick was a little tired, but most of the shots turned out cute. Take a look at the album.

To our extended family – a rant

Friday, December 30th, 2005

Maybe Lisa and I are unique with this issue, but we’re hearing all sorts of vocal opposition to nearly every baby name we’ve considered. We’re not into new age, or even trendy names. Anyone who knows us will confirm that. All of you critics need to realize that your favorite names are possibly the least favorite of some one else. So if we were to placate one person’s choice, we’d hear whining from others. That means Lisa and I suffer in all scenarios.

Here’s a secret – we won’t choose a baby name to win anyone’s approval. If we happen to choose a family name, it may be a combination of us liking the name and showing respect for that person. We won’t choose a family name that we don’t like, regardless of the love we may have/had for that person. On the other hand, if we choose a name that happens to also be a family name, there’s not necessarily any legacy implied. So don’t read into this stuff. We all tend to judge names based on existing people we’ve known with that name.

So to pretty much all my relatives, (and even some friends) be thankful that Lisa and I won’t name our child after an emotion, a brand name or a flavor of ice cream. Normally I’d be hesitant to be this blunt, but since nearly all of you have busted our chops on this, we’re equally frustrated with everyone.

So please leave us alone, or we will name our (they tell me it’s a girl) child something really embarassing :)

Think Pink

We are thrilled to announce we saw our healthy baby girl today on ultrasound. We are expecting her arrival sometime between May 9-16th!

Pink or Blue?

Wednesday, December 28th, 2005

Okay everyone, please pray for us. We’re going in for our ultrasound today, December 28th. We pray that the baby is healthy, growing properly, that everything is where it’s supposed to be, etc. We also pray the baby cooperates with the tech to let us know whether the name will be Jackson or Natalie. Stay tuned for the announcement!
